I bet you have a lot of stuff going on.
I bet sometimes you think to yourself, “Why me?” or at the least, “If only this happened, my life would be so much easier.” Many of you who have been to my classes, be it my yoga classes, retreats, essential oils workshops or chanting events know I talk about vibration. It’s no secret that the world is made up of energetic vibrations and that these modalities I use have been studied to increase these energetic vibrations to allow the body and mind to come back to a higher energetic state.
So what happens, I wonder, if our minds are in a low-vibratory state most of the time? According to Rekha Shrivastava, “Positive thoughts will trigger healthy emotions whereas, negative thoughts will trigger negative emotions and adversely affect our health.” (full article here). Lately I’ve been working on trying to notice miracles. I’ve been practicing seeing the good in all and then noticing how my mindset changes – how my mood might shift from the “why me” state to an attitude of gratitude. What I do for work – teaching the dharma and teaching people how to heal through natural ways means that I listen to what people need and I output a lot of energy, hoping something will stick. Sometimes I feel depleted, exhausted, and burnt-out. But recently, instead of wallowing in a low state of dread or sorrow, I try to fill my cup back up. The month of December was a time of deep reflection, new social experiences, and lots of self care. And whenever I caught myself having a thought of victim-hood, I tried to choose to see the good. I saw negative people and situations as my teachers. Times when I was bored or had nothing planned, I saw as a gift from the universe to rest. If I recognized a sad or bad feeling in my belly, caused by some kind of emotion, I bowed in gratitude for the awareness and practiced breathing. It’s amazing when you shift your mindset to look for Miracles, how they actually come back to you tenfold.
“THE UNIVERSE WILL MATCH WHATEVER VIBRATION YOU PUT OUT. AND YOU CAN’T FOOL THE UNIVERSE.” ~Jen Sincero, author of “You are a Badass”
This holiday season and into the new year, choose to see the good. Plan your months, your weeks, your days with a good balance of work, play and self-care. And then in all the cracks in between, let light shine through instead of darkness. When you find yourself thinking about yourself or others in any other way but as positive or as positive influences in your life, I offer for you to recognize and even jot down the miracles that are being bestowed upon you. The more you practice, the more you’ll open to miracles.
As the late Leonard Cohen sang in “Anthem, “Ring the bells that still can ring. Forget your perfect offering. There is a crack in everything. That’s how the light gets in.”
Om namah,
